Jeremiah 23:5-6 NIV 2011
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.”
Jeremiah was chosen by God to warn the people of Judah and Jerusalem about impending Babylonian exile. He spoke continually of God’s promised new covenant restored by The King of Kings. Ezekiel 34:33, “I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd.” Jesus restored both Judah and Jerusalem by offering ample blessings to those who followed Him. Jesus Christ as David’s heir, the Good Shepherd, did what was just and right. God chose prophets to speak and/or write His words.
We have been given His Word that contains all we need to study and learn His Truth. Through prayer and homiletics, breaking down the Scripture has become second nature. Reading various commentaries and listening to Bible teachers after I study God’s Word on my own enhances my understanding. God uses pastors, priests, theologians and more to teach lay people today. Prophets and others God called to complete His Word finished with Revelation.
What are the ways we will continue to use God’s Word daily?
Thankful God’s Word is our compass,
