Psalm 147:3-6 NIV2011
He holds the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
This is one of the last five Psalms each beginning and ending with, “Praise the Lord.” The exiles of Israel offered God praise for his mercies. The same God who named the stars consistently cares for His people. Isaiah 40:26b, “Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name.” Those who place their trust in God will be sustained. Isaiah 40:28b, “The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.” All-knowing God created the universe and sustains His people.
I don’t have enough fingers and toes to count the times I’ve experienced God binding up my wounds. He heals superficial wounds as well. Looking out at the night’s sky, I see stars and the moon exactly where they are supposed to be. God created the universe and there is no limit to what He can do. Focused on His faithfulness, He’s consistently beside me. Because He is our all-knowing God He knows every hair on our heads. Humbly turning to the Lord, He sustains me and smites the wicked.
