Psalm 139:13-14 NIV 2011
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
David prayed like Job for the Lord to examine his heart to see his complete devotion to Him. Job 10:12, “You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit.” David knew he was God’s creation as did Jeremiah, God’s prophet. Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Even when unsure of his present circumstances, David knew God the Creator was worthy of praise. Psalm 145:10, “All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you.” Creator God knits together His fearfully wonderful people.
A conversation with a friend led me to this verse. She wasn’t sure she could wear shorts or sleeveless shirts. I could only smile and say, “At my age, I will wear what I want and if someone doesn’t like how I look, I’m God’s creation.” I’m not going to be sporting a bikini any time soon. Those days are gone forever. But I will wear shorts and even sleeveless shirts in the summer. Daily I praise God for fearfully and wonderfully knitting me together.
Where do you see God’s craftsmanship in your life?
Fearfully and wonderfully made together,
