Romans 15:17-18 NIV 2011

Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God. I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done…

Paul was called to serve Christ by sharing the Good News with the Gentiles. At every stop along each missionary journey, He served the Lord. Philippians 1:1, “Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi…” He as well as those walking beside him served the Lord.. 2 Corinthians 6:4, “Rather as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distress…” Romans 8:37, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Christ commends His faithful to serve.

Serving the Lord comes in differing ways. Being a pastor, missionary, parent or friend are all ways to serve the Lord. I recently met four women that serve the Lord daily in an adult senior living home. These women care for residents that have memory loss and other health concerns. RNs and nurses aids, they each lean on the Lord as they serve these residents with personal care, meals, talking or listening to them each day all done with the Love of Christ. They do what Christ commends them to do, serve Him.

Where is God calling us to serve?

Commended to serve Him,
