Job 23:8,10 NIV 2011

“But if I go to the east, he is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find him.

“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”

The book of Job revealed bad things do happen to good people. Job was a righteous man of God that went through the fire. What ever way he went east, west, north or south he was unable to find God but God was hidden in his heart. He knew the Lord knew him intimately like David did. Psalm 139:1, “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” Job chose to answer Eliphaz’s previous assertions. Job 22:21, “Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.” Hearts hidden in the Lord will weather every test.

What was your first thought when you woke up to the Wuhan Virus Pandemic? That the world as we know has forever changed? I’ve missed worshipping on Sunday mornings with fellow believers. It’s just not the same watching remotely on my computer. I heard someone say, “I guess this is how we will do church from now on.” I went home and thought of Job. He’d done nothing wrong but was plagued with disaster. We’re experiencing a pandemic through no fault of our own. With hearts hidden in the Lord we’ll weather this.

How do we walk through the fire?

Weathering storms together,
