Galatians 2:19-20 NIV 2011
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body Christ lives in me. I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Paul specifically states salvation is the act of dying to self and identifying with Christ. Romans 6:7, “because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.” Those that have committed themselves to Jesus choose a different path by leaving their old life behind. Galatians 5:24, “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Faith in Jesus’ sacrifice at the cross gives new life to believers. Galatians 1:4, “who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.” Jesus Christ secures believer’s identity.
Giving my life to Christ at a young age was followed six years later with a rebellious spirit. Though I chose to leave Him, He remained near me. As a young mother the Lord drew me back to Him after the birth of daughter number two. It was hard to understand all I’d missed during those years in the dessert. When I began to study God’s Word, the Lord revealed pieces of His plan I’d missed. I was secure after recommitting my life to Christ.
How does daily life reflect identity in Christ?
