Colossians 1:15-16 NIV 2011
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
Paul’s letter revealed his concern of heresy in Colossae overtaking the faithful. After introductions, his letter stressed the Supremacy of Christ. He knew Jesus was “God with skin on.” John 1:18, “No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.” Paul continued in 18a, “And he is the head of the body, the church.” With God at creation, Jesus returned. John 1:2, “He was with God in the beginning.” Romans 11:36a, “For from him and through him and for him are all things.” Jesus is God and the Trinity.
From the television to the news, not much has changed since Paul wrote his letter to the church in Colossae. Many seek anything other than Jesus to fill what is missing in their lives. They find drugs, money, or fast cars fit their life style. I’m thankful I chose Jesus as a young girl and found my way back before I followed the world’s ways toward what was important. I know Jesus is God and the Trinity.
How does knowing Jesus change our daily lives?
Thankful Jesus is God,
