Psalm 32:1, Acts13:38-39a NIV 2011
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sin is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin…”
David knew God’s forgiveness came through confession. Accepting God as ruler of their lives, sins confessed were forgiven. Psalm 85:2, “You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins.” Those sins were covered by a blood sacrifice. Hebrews 9:22, “…and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” Jesus Christ is the final blood sacrifice for the sins of all. Hebrews 9:28, “So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many…” On each missionary journey, Paul proclaimed Jesus Christ saves sinners that choose to follow Him. Sins are forgiven by salvation through Jesus Christ.
Forgiveness goes hand in hand with placing my trials at the foot of the cross, turning around and leaving them there. Those close to me are the hardest to forgive because of my love for them. And yet because God loved us so much He sent His Son to die on the cross for my sins. Psalm 103:12, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” I need to do the same. My sins are forgiven daily by faith in Jesus Christ.
Who needs to know Jesus’ forgiveness?
