1 Peter 1:8-9 NIV 2011

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Peter’s letter to the faithful in and around Asia Minor promoted holy living even when facing persecution. He praised God for the hope shared in Christ Jesus. Peter knew Christ personally as His disciple but the churches needed to remain steadfast their faith remembering Jesus came to save sinners. John 20:29, “Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’” Their salvation was secured by chosing to follow Christ. Faith in Jesus Christ sets believers free from sin to live holy lives that lead to eternal life.

There’ve been people that question my faith. They ask, “How can you believe in something you can’t see?” Sometimes I answer, “I can’t see air but I know it’s there.” At times the conversation ends there. Other times a conversation begins. When I see the perfection God created here, I see His perfect plan. We live on the only planet that sustains life. How difficult is the leap from that to belief in God? Following Jesus I will lead a holy life and spend eternity with Him.

How do we live holy lives?

Following the Lord daily,

S
