Psalm 18:1-3 NIV2011
I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.
David’s song is also found in 2 Samual 22 with some differences. David was acting on behalf of the Lord as His servant. David declared his love for the Lord. Like the Lord’s prophets as well as Joshua and Moses, David was the leader of God’s people. He offered his adoration when describing the God’s attributes as his strength, rock, fortress and deliverer. God’s unfailing ability to be there at every turn comforted David. Luke 1:69, “He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of the servant David.” God saves and abides with His people.
Since the early 1980’s, the Lord has been my strength. With three girls 7 and under we were busy. My greatest joy was getting everyone ready for church on Sunday morning. Adult Sunday school and church service was the time to re-charged for the week. Studying God’s Word showed me God is my rock, deliverer and mighty fortress. By the mid 1980’s God was up close and personal, I found refuge in Him alone. Saved, He abides with me daily.
Why is the Lord worthy of praise?
