Romans 13:11-12 NIV 2011
And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over, the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Paul wrote words to remind believers in Rome to live righteous lives in light of Jesus’ return. 1 Thessalonians 5:6, “So the, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” One commentator wrote, “The next great event in God’s redemption plan is the second coming of Jesus Christ.” God’s Word does not specify a date or time. Paul continually motivated the believers to live godly lives shining the True Light. Philippians 4:5, “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” Believers put on Jesus’ armor of Light.
A dear friend was in the battle for her life more than four years ago. My first visit after her diagnosis, her light had gone out. After our conversation that day, I could see it faintly shining. So began our conversations each time we spoke either in person or on the phone, “Is your light shining?” Her body’s healed and her light shines brightly as if those dark days never happened. She put on Jesus armor of Light.
How is Jesus armor of Light shining in you?
Daily shining Jesus,
