Psalm 135:4, Titus 2:14 NIV 2011
For the Lord has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.
Who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
Jacob knew God was the source of his blessings. Genesis 32:28, “Then the man said, ‘Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.’” God called Him to lead His people home. The New Testament is about His Son Jesus whom He sent to save sinners. By accepting Jesus’ finished work on the cross each would belong to the Lord. Romans 3:24, “And all are justified freely by his grace through redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Those who follow Christ are God’s treasured possession.
I love being a child of the King. It puts a smile on my face as I type that. To know that little old me is a treasured possession, boggles my mind and makes me want to shout it from the roof top. But it’s way too hot outside today. I’m stuck with smiling at those I come into contact with, or smiling my eyes if I’m at Costco wearing a mask. I’m a sinner He chose to save. Daily all those that choose to follow Christ will become God’s treasured possessions.
Why did you choose Christ?
