Romans 12:1-2a NIV 2011
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—that is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Paul began giving the faithful in Rome practical ways to live lives for Christ. Ephesians 4:1, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” Christ was to be Lord of every facet of their lives. Christ paid the price for their salvation. 1 Corinthians 6:20, “you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” Ephesians 4:23, “to be made new in the attitude of your minds.” God uses His Word to transform those who follow Jesus.
My life forever changed at salvation. Over the years through prayer and study of God’s Word, I’ve learned I’m a sinner in need of the Savior. I thought the more I knew God’s Word, the easier it would be to be more Christ like. I do know I fail miserably daily but I keep trying. Do I sin less than I used to? Yes! Transformation is a life long process. I was made new at salvation and can ask for forgiveness every day. God uses His Word to transform me.
How is God renewing and transforming our minds?
