Jeremiah 10:6-7 NIV 2011
No one is like you, Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power. Who should not fear you, King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise leaders of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you.
God called His prophet, Jeremiah, to share the impending exile at the hands of the Babylonians. He wove through his prophecy Israel’s restoration after the arrival of the Messiah. Jeremiah emphasized Yahweh as the One True God, set apart from all others. David’s prayer referred to God in the same way, Psalm 86:8, “Among the gods there is no one like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.” Fear of the Lord gives believers the power to live lives of faith. The Lord God is not limited by man-made boundaries.
I remember as a young girl hearing we need to fear the Lord. That was a hard concept but after studying God’s Word I have a deeper understanding of fearing Him. In both the Old and New Testament, Scripture gives many of the benefits of fearing God, examples of those who feared the Lord, reasons to fear the Lord and His command to fear Him. Choosing to fear the Lord on my daily walk of faith I can see He is not limited by man-made boundaries.
What limits do we have that stand in the way of our faith walk?
Thankful for His limitless boundaries,
