Psalm 100:5, 107:1, Mark 19:18 NIV 2011
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good…
“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.”
The Psalms contain hymns and prayers used for worshipping The Lord God. Psalm 100 offered grateful praise for God’s goodness to His people. Israel worshipped God when the glory of the Lord was above the temple. 2 Chronicles 7:3, “When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt…saying, ‘He is good, his love endures forever.’” Approaching Jesus, a man asked Him how to inherit eternal life after calling Him “Good Teacher.’ Jesus refocused the man look to God. He alone gives eternal life. God is good.
This is VBS week in New Albany. Arriving this morning a few minutes late after a mishap we checked in 100+ attendees for the week. Our theme is ROAR: Life is wild. God is good. An African motif led the children through five stations today hearing “when life is unfair, God is good.” That led me to the Scriptures above as I scoured my Bible. I finally remembered them, each affirming the truth; God is good. This is my favorite refrain as my feet hit the floor daily: God is good every single day!
How do we praise God for His goodness?
Grateful God’s good,
