Jeremiah 1:17, 1Peter 1:13 NIV 2011
“Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you.”
Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.
The Lord knew Jeremiah before he was born. Jeremiah 1:4, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you…” He called Jeremiah to give Judah hope before and after the conquest of the Babylonians. It was a daunting task. God prepared him to complete the job. God called Peter to instruct His people to live holy lives even while suffering persecution. That included fixing their eyes on Jesus Christ. 1Peter 5:12, “…I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.” God calls His people to be prepared.
I love how the Old and New Testaments complement each other. God’s Word is True and remains the same. The Boy Scout Motto is “Be Prepared.” In light of the events of the past six months, I would say it’s a good thing to be prepared. As a believer I’m called to a higher preparation. I need to know God’s Word so I can share it with those that don’t. I’m called to tell them no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace, no one. I’m prepared to share.
What will we do for the cause of Christ?
