Jeremiah 17:10 2 Corinthians 5:10a NIV 2011

“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due…

God intimately knows His people. Paul words in Romans 3:23 reveal from Adam to today, “all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.” In the Old Testament, confession of sin included blood sacrifices. All deserve death but through faith in Jesus Christ, His blood sacrifice paid sin’s price. Confession of sin has not changed from the Old Testament. Jesus covers believer’s sin. God is able to use those who’ve placed their faith in Jesus Christ as clean vessels. What is given by God comes through a personal relationship with Jesus. God holds sinners accountable.

I’m thankful to have been raised by parents that held each of us to high standards to be truthful. The world in which we live daily is much different. People tell half-truths or skirt the truth to avoid offending anyone. I remember my mom saying, “If you tell the truth you won’t ever need to worry about what you said because it remains the same.” When I confess those sins that linger in my mind, they are gone and forgiven. As a sinful follower of Jesus, God holds me accountable.

What sins need to be confessed today?

Saved but accountable,
