1 Peter 3:15-16a NIV 2011
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do things with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience.
Peter challenged the believers to remain steadfast in their commitment: Jesus Christ is Lord of their life. They needed to articulate what Jesus’ death accomplished for all sinners at the cross. Colossians 4:6, “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Sharing God’s Word brings hope. Romans 5:5, “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Lovingly answering questions is the key. Believers must be respectfully armed with the Truth of Jesus Christ.
Being armed with good explanations as to why I’m a Christian has been my life long quest to be steadfast in that resolve. In today’s culture, we must be respectfully armed to share our faith. My faith story generally starts soft with how I was raised but begins in earnest when our sweet Mandi walked into eternity. My faith grew exponentially through that long faith-building walk. I experienced up close and personal the hope found while carried by the Master. I’m armed daily with the Truth of Jesus Christ.
Why are you following Jesus Christ?
Truthfully armed together,
