1 Corinthians 12:17-18 NIV 2011
If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were and ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.
Paul was aware of the differences in those within the church at Corinth. Confident God is sovereign, he knew God’s design was perfect and they were each a part of God’s perfect design. Their differences were their strengths when combined with the strength of those around them. Romans 12:5, “so in Christ we, though many, form one body.” Each person was an integral part of the church body. 1 Corinthians 12:14, “Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.” God places together His people for His perfect purpose.
Marriage is not for the faint of heart. Different from my husband, God has shown me how complete we are together. My husband’s outgoing personality has given me the opportunity to reach beyond my comfort zone. As the cautious one examining all the facts before a decision, my husband does stop now before moving ahead quickly. I love that Paul offered the same information to the church. We all come together and our differences can compliment each other. Working together focused on His perfect purpose, we complete God’s Work.
How is He calling us to work together?
