Matthew 7:7-8, John 14:13 NIV 2011
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
Matthew quoted Jesus’ Words about persistence in prayer. James wrote about the lack of persistent prayer among those in the church at Jerusalem. James 4:2b, “You do not have because you do not ask God.” The Apostle John chronicled Jesus’ answer to Philip’s query in verse 8, “Lord show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus was “God with skin on.” John 14:14, “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” Jesus’ Words reveal God promises to answer us.
Spending time in prayer has been the best way for me to know the Father. When we knew the end was near for our sweet Mandi and I didn’t know how to pray, He was there in answer to my unasked prayers. A phone call from our youngest daughter in Mexico triggered immediate prayer, “God please place a hedge of protection around Nicki and Brian during their long uncertain journey.” Our omniscient and omnipresent God hears and promises to answers our prayers.
How will daily prayer strengthen our journey?
