Isaiah 55:10-11 NIV 2011
As the rain and the snow come down from heavens, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:1, “Come, all who are thirsty, come to the waters,” is an invitation to all who seek salvation and God’s blessings. In exile, Isaiah offered refreshment to the Jew’s spiritual thirst. Just as God provided water to quench the earth, He did this for His own. John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The same God that was present “In the beginning” is present today. God is Sovereign.
Being a person of order, I’m grateful our God is the same today as He has always been. Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” He has known me forever. Psalm 139:3, “You discern my going out and my lying down.” He knows everything I do and He’s had a plan for every day of my life. Each nugget discovered in His Word makes His path easier for me to navigate. Daily I follow because He alone is Sovereign.
How does God reveal His sovereignty?
Thankful God is Sovereign,
