Psalm 118:1-4 NIV 2011
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Let Israel say: “His love endures forever.” Let the house of Aaron say: “His love endures forever.” Let those who fear the Lord say: “His love endures forever.”
The Psalter offered a liturgical call to praise. David used similar words of praise in 1Chronicles 16:8, “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.” Again in 16:34 David offered thanks, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Even Jehoshaphat assigned men to sing praise to the Lord, 2 Chronicles 20:21b. “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.” Ezra 3:11, “With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord: ‘ He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.’” Psalm 107:1, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” God’s love endures forever.
Scripture daily reveals God is dependable, reliable and faithful. I look for those qualities in my friends. When the going gets tough, having an earthly friend to talk with is always helpful. A reliable sister-in-Christ who will point me to God’s Word when struggling with a decision is a must have. A friend who will keep speaking God’s Truth in love is irreplaceable. But more than my earthly friends, I have God above and His love endures forever.
