Colossians 3:1-3 NIV 2011
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For he died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
At salvation believers are “raised with Christ.” Philippians 3:20a, “But our citizenship is in heaven.” Christ died for the sins of everyone. 2 Corinthians 5:14, “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.” Before salvation, everyone is dead in their sins. Once saved they are then “hidden with Christ.” Romans 6:5, “For if we have been united with him in a death like this, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like this.” Believers hidden with Christ will live lives alive in Christ.
To go from being dead in my sins to alive in Christ is like being in a car going from zero to sixty in zero-seconds. Salvation happens immediately when we ask Christ to be our Lord and Savior. The refining process for me will continue to take place until He calls me Home. Though perfection is not our purpose, pleasing Him is. That happens when we share the Good News and look to Him daily for direction. Jesus is the hidden anchor of my life which keeps me alive in Christ.
How are we hidden and alive in Christ?
Citizens of heaven,
