John 16: 5, 15 NIV 2011
“But now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’”
“All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
Jesus’ disciples had spent three years with Jesus and were shocked to hear He was leaving. Only Peter asked where He was going. John 13:36, “Simon Peter asked him, ‘Lord where are you going?’ Jesus replied, ‘Where I am going you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.’” They did not fully understand His need to leave and how it would take place. Knowing this He assured them the Comforter would come to them. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are One.
The older I get, the more I see God’s plan for husbands and wives. He wants us to be one flesh just as God designed in the beginning. Genesis 2:24, “That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife; and they become one flesh.” Sharing the ups and downs of marriage has definitely been an adventure. Like all relationships, it takes work. God wants the same for believers. Colossians 2:2, “My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love…” Christians are called to unite as one through the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
How do we unite with other believers?
Together daily united,
