Psalm 119:18-20, 24 NIV 2011
Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times.
Your statues are my delight; they are my counselor.
As devotees to God’s commands, His people may be alienated from those who disbelieve His Word. David continually stressed God’s wonderful redeeming acts. Psalm 9:1, “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” God alone opens the eyes of His people. Believers are citizens of the Kingdom of God. This is not home to God’s people. Psalm 39:12b, “I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were.” God’s Word contains guidance and counsel. Resolutely following God’s Word has eternal benefits in believer’s lives.

I don’t recall the last time I asked God to open my eyes that I might see wonderful things in His law. I know His law guides my moral compass and offers me godly direction. God’s Word counsels and comforts me. On the precipice of 2019, God grant me your words to share with others: your gift of eternal life.
How do you hunger for God’s Word?
Resolute in sharing God’s Word,
