Joshua 1:7a, 9 NIV 2011
“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you…”
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
God gave Joshua his marching orders after Moses’ death. Joshua 1:1, “After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide.” He cautioned Joshua as He did Moses. Deuteronomy 8:1, “Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today.” Moses commissioned Joshua reminding him God was with him. Deuteronomy 31:6a-b, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you.” God remained with Joshua and His people. The presence of God gives believers courage.
Did you ever realize you did something and it wasn’t right? Well last Friday when I was shredding everything that needs to be shredded I inadvertently shredded the Title to one of our cars. We’d traveled to the DMV many times recently to register cars and get our Nevada drivers license. That title somehow got into the shred pile. I knew my husband would be upset. Prepared with everything I needed to replace it I prayed, God gave me the courage to tell him and now it’s something he laughs about.
How do you courageously face difficult situations?
