1 Corinthians 4:1-2 NIV 2011
This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed. Now it is requited that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.
Paul delineated what a servant is in previous verses. 1 Corinthians 3:5, “What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task.” A servant was a steward managing the household. God’s Words were previously hidden but revealed during the Advent of Jesus Christ. Romans 16:25a, “Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ…” Both the Old and New Testaments reveal God’s faithful servants; Abraham:Nehemiah9:8, Hezekiah:2Chronicles31:20, Moses:Numbers12:7, Onesimus:Coloossians4:9, Silas:1Peter5:12 and Timothy1Corinthians4:17.
Faithful servants walk like Jesus.
Sitting in my new church yesterday, our pastor challenged us to give like Jesus. That took me to the book of 1 Corinthians to seek further information. 1 Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm.” I need to stand firm in my faith and not waiver. Every so often I wake-up in not the best mood. So I grab my outer-ware and proceed on a long walk with the Lord. Humbling myself before Him I discover it’s sin that is separating me from Him. I’m walking daily like Jesus.
How do others see us walk with Jesus?
