John 8:36, Galatians 5:13 NIV 2011
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
You my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge in the flesh; rather serve one another humbly in love.
The disciple John used Jesus’ words during a conversation with teachers of the law at the temple courts. John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Freedom from the Law of Moses was what Jesus was showing them. He wanted them to know their faith in Christ set them free. Paul told God’s people they were set free from their former lives through their faith in Christ to serve others. Ephesians 5:21, “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” Through faith in Christ believers are set free to serve one another.
In January my prayer request was, “God show me where you want me to serve.” As I’ve become more connected with my small church, He’s shown me ways to serve Him. Wednesday nights we meet for prayer meeting praying for those in need. Sunday mornings I greet as members come to worship together. Pastor Dave has tasked me to help us stay connected with members as well as those that visit on Sunday. Lots of notes will be organized using MAC’s “spread sheet.” By faith I’m free to serve others for the church.
Where’s God calling you to serve others daily?
