Psalm 23:1, Isaiah 53:6 NIV 2011

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way;

and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

David knew the Lord was leading him where God needed him to go. He also knew the Lord would provide everything he needed when he remained close to Him. It was a visual he remembered having once been a shepherd as a young boy. Isaiah used sheep as a picture of God’s people. Israel wandered away from God toward worldly ways. Both men knew following the Lord was the only to way to dwell with Him. Psalm 23:6, “…and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Those who belong to the Shepherd will spend eternity with HIm.

During these uncertain times, what do we know for certain? Our guest pastor preached yesterday from John 4:46-54: Jesus is the Great Physician and Our Sovereign Savior. He said the nobleman had a crisis of faith. He ended with two questions. “How does physical difficulty drive us to Jesus? How far are you willing to walk to save a lost soul?” The Lord is my Shepherd and I’ll spend eternity with Him. Difficulties can be hard but there is no distance too far to walk to save a soul. I’ve been saved and will spend eternity with HIm.

Whose soul needs saving?

Saved to serve,
