Psalm 119:11-114 NIV 2011
Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end. I hate double-minded people, but I love your law. You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your words.
God’s Word is the only constant and joyfulness in the lives of His faithful followers. God gave the riches of the past to His people. The heart, the center of the human spirit, is the place from which emotions, thoughts, motivations, actions and courage spring. Devotion to the Word of God and the God of the Word is the overriding theme of this Psalm. Those who say one thing but do another must be avoided. God will never leave or abandon His family. Remaining true to God’s Word is a day-by-day journey. Treasuring God’s Word presents His people constant hope and refuge.

They are a treasure as is God’s Word, which offers me hope, and refuge daily.
Why is refuge and hope necessary?
