Revelation 14:11-12 NIV 2011
“And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.
John saw the third and final angel. The angel’s words applied to those deciding to worship the beast. Though promised everything, they would lose everything: eternal life. They’d either suffer now or suffer in eternity. Isaiah 34:10, “It will not be quenched night or day, its smoke will rise forever.” There will be no rest for the wicked. John asks God’s faithful to persevere. Hebrews 6:12, “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” The Lord is faithful to those who remain faithful to Him.
When life is stress-free and running smooth, it’s easy to be faithful to the Lord. But when the going gets tough, that’s when we may ask, “Where are you Lord?” Staying faithful in prayer and reaching out to those who will share God’s Word has always been reassuring for me. Remembering the times God faithfully walked with His people throughout the Bible centers me. He will be faithful to me because I remain faithful to Him.
How does God reveal His faithfulness?
Firmly faithful together,
