1 Corinthians 16:13-14, 1 Thessalonians 3:8 NIV 2011

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.

For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.

Paul concluded his first letter to the faithful in Corinth with practical and personal tidbits of information. His second letter began by acknowledging who would help His faithful stand firm. 2 Corinthians 1:21, “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ.” Paul received an encouraging report from Timothy about God’s faithful in Thessalonica. He was reassured the new converts were remaining faithful while they continued to stand firm in the Lord. Galatians 5:1, “Stand firm, then…” God calls His faithful followers to stand firm.

I found this Corinthians Scripture passage on social media last night. It was posted by one of our government officials. It was the perfect daily reminder for me before I went to bed last night. Today is my first cataract surgery scheduled for 1 PM. Putting my eye sight in the hands of a surgeon will take courage because I have only two eyes. Having done my research as well as the fact these are the same surgeons that have done all of my husband’s eye surgeries, it’s where I’m supposed to be. Knowing God is with me this morning I’m standing firm in Christ.

How will we help others stand firm today?

Courageously standing firm with the Lord,

    1. The surgeon said it went perfectly. He paryed with me before the surgery. I prayed through the surgery that only took 15 minutes. Now I know what to expect for the left eye next week. At Nicki’s now with my right eye taped shut. Next day check tomorrow and flying home. Thank you for your prayers, my sister-in-Christ. Hugs
