Genesis 39:2-4a NIV 2011
The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that he gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant.
Potiphar purchased Joseph from Ishmaelites after his brothers sold him. This was the first step of Israel’s move from Canaan to Egypt. Joseph’s drastic position change did not affect his relationship with the Lord. He remained steadfast and the Lord remained with him. Acts 7:8, “Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him and rescued him from all his troubles.” Genesis 43:1, “Now the famine was still severe in the land.” Joseph saved his entire family because of his favored position. God remains with those who remain in Him.
After all Joseph went through, he remained steadfast in his faith. “I just don’t know how you got through that. Were you afraid or sad?” These questions I’ve heard many times. The blessings come when I’m given the opportunity to tell them the rest of the story. Following Jesus continues to be the reason my feet hit the floor daily. Anchored in Him, how could I not be exposed to the world in which we live? The Lord remains with me as I remain in Him.
Is God revealed in our lives?
Remaining in Jesus,
