Genesis 12:2-3 NIV 2011

“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

God spoke to Abram and called him to leave his country. Genesis 12:1a, “The Lord said to Abram, ‘Go from your country…’” He was to follow God to the place He chose. God made seven promises to Abram that were promised in Genesis 1:28, “God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth…’” God asked Abram to follow Him and He would bless him. Genesis 17:4, “As for me, this is my covenant with you. You will be the father of many nations.” God blesses those who faithfully follow Him.

I’ve often thought we each should come with a built in compass to guide us. With that in place the Holy Spirit would not need to work in our lives. There’s the reason. The day I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior, I was given the Holy Spirit as my compass and guide. There are days I’m so close that I feel His breath on my cheek and sometimes nothing at all. Choosing to follow Him the Holy Spirit guides and blesses me daily.

What are the ways we’re following Him today?

Called and blessed beyond all measure,
