Psalm 91:1-2 NIV 2011
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
The psalter used “Most High” as a metaphor for God. Some commentators thought it was the temple. Psalm 23:6, “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” God’s people rest in His presence. El Shaddai, God Almighty, does precisely what He purposes. God’s people find refuge in Him. Psalm 63:7, “Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.” God stands with His people. 2 Samuel 22:2, “He said, ‘The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer.’” Those who trust in the Lord are secure.
For the better part of my life, I’ve trusted the Lord with the direction it needs to go. Some of those life-changing decisions have brought me to where I am today. God is sovereign and I know He has a plan. When I finally figured that out, my life changed. Time spent daily in His Word keeps me informed. Worship on Sunday is the frosting on the week. Studying God’s Word through BSF enhances my knowledge of His character. Prayer grounds me. I trust Him and I know I’m secure.
How do others see we trust God?
Secure in the Lord,
