Psalm 61:1-3 NIV 2011
Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
David asked the Lord to restore him into His presence. Whether David was fleeing from his son, Absalom or on the brink of death, he knew from where his source of strength would come. Psalm 64:11, “Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy.” He went immediately to the Lord in prayer because of many previous challenging situations. David knew God was always with him. Psalm 9:9, “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” God provides refuge for His people.
The one truth I know, God is always there even when I’ve been elsewhere. For the past five years my walk with the Lord has been steadfast and stable because I answered His call to write. I’ve seen Him faithfully show up each day I sit here with my laptop typing away. Diving into His Word daily draws me close to Him. He’s consistently given me Scripture to share as well as the words to type and He’s never late. He’s my refuge especially through the times He stretches me.
How is God providing refuge for you?
