Joshua 6:3-5v NIV 2011
March around the city once with all armed men. Do this for six days.
On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse…
God gave Joshua his marching orders in what appeared to be a fete against all odds. God made it clear to Joshua the battle was His. It did not depend on Israel’s might but rather on them trusting God with the details. Joshua 6:16, “The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, ‘Shout! For the Lord has given you the city!’” Because Israel was willing to follow God completely, they were successful in taking Jericho. Instructions from God may require believers to follow in faith.
My BSF TL’s doctrine talk this week was on the Kingdom of God. I believe that’s what God asked Joshua to see, the Kingdom of God rather than the world of man. She asked if we think first “Thy will be done?” or “Am I relying on the Holy Spirit?” God has a plan for each of us. He gives us opportunities to be obedient just like He did for Israel. I need to live with a Kingdom perspective. God daily requires that I follow Him in faith.
How do we show God’s faithful?
God’s plan’s perfect,
