Isaiah 48:17-18 NIV 2011
This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea.”
The Redeemer is the Lord. Isaiah 47:4, “Our Redeemer—the Lord Almighty is his name.” The ever-present Lord consistently taught His people yet they chose not follow. Jeremiah 7:13b, “I spoke to you again and again, but you did not listen; I called you, but you did not answer.” God directed His people. Isaiah 58:11a, “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land.” God offered peace, Psalm 147:14, “He grants peace to your borders and satisfies you with the finest wheat.” God is faithful to redeem His people.
God’s Word contains all that we need to know about daily living in the twenty-first century. Listening to our new associate pastor this morning brought that into focus again. Following the model of Jesus we can be His children. “Perfection: like Father like Son.” Christ lived a perfect, sinless life. He alone could be the perfect sacrifice for sinners. Jesus is my redeemer who paid the ransom for my sins. God faithfully sent Jesus to redeem His sinful people, us.
Who needs Jesus’ saving grace today?
