Daniel 2:19b, 23 NIV 2011
Then Daniel praised the God of heaven…
“I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king.”
Daniel asked his three friends to pray for God’s mercy. Their lives were in peril if Daniel did not understand Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. “During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision.” A practicing Jew, upon waking he immediately went to God, as did his ancestors. Joshua 22:33, “They were glad to hear the report and praised God.” Exodus 3:15 “…The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me.” God gave Daniel wisdom, 1:17, “To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding…” God hears the prayers of His faithful.
Prayer became a part of my life long ago but has now become an integral part of my routine. There was a time when people said, “Prayer is just a part of the ‘name it and claim it religion.’” Studying God’s Word continually reinforces my need to communicate through time spent daily in prayer. Though sometimes short, I include praise, petition and thanksgiving. We were created for fellowship with Him. He knows us and desires that we know Him. God hears our prayers.
Why does God listen to our prayers?
