Matthew 17:20 NIV 2011

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Jesus healed a demon-possessed boy. A man knelt with his son. 17:15-16 “Lord, have mercy on my son…I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” Jesus used the size their faith not in terms of quantity but quality. Mark 9:29 included Jesus’ additional reply to their question from Matthew 17:19, “He replied, ‘This kind can come out only by prayer.’” Jesus used the mustard seed in 13:31-32 as a visual illustration as well. Jesus’ words in Matthew 21:21-22, Paul’s in 1 Corinthians 13:2 and Isaiah’s in 54:10 each address the size and depth of faith. Their faith needed to grow exponentially. Prayerful faith pushes people forward purposefully.

For the majority of my adult life, I’ve walked by faith. At times that walk was a challenge. My intimate knowledge of the Lord and remaining close in prayer, He enabled me to meet the challenge and together navigate the way. There’ve been times life hasn’t been a picnic. He’s revealed to me moving through the fire I detest the smell of singed hair. Therefore I swiftly sprint to the other side. My unwavering faith has pushed me toward His purpose.

What helps build our faith daily?
