1 Peter 2:4-5 NIV 2011
As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him—you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Peter referred to Jesus Christ as the living Stone; he physically came to earth to live among us. Christ is also the Stone that gives life. John 6:51, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven.” Paul revealed foundational information in, Ephesians 2:20, “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as chief cornerstone.” Jesus our high priest and reflection of God, offered himself as the ultimate sacrificial lamb now interceding before God for all believers. Jesus is the final perfect sacrifice God accepted. Believers are called to live sacrificial lives in service to God.
James 1:2-3, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Jesus modeled how to be His faithful servants. He willingly died as the sacrifice for my sins. He is the rock upon which I have built my faith. Our advocate with the Father, His service for us has not ended. The small ways I can serve Him here pale in comparison. Daily I’m willing to offer my life in service to the Father.
What sacrifices come easily?
