Psalm 8:1-2 NIV 2011
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
This Psalm of David was offered in praise of the Creator God in awe of his perfect creation. God’s glory was seen and sung by David in joyful adoration. Psalm 5:11, “But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy.” He was keenly aware of how God could use children to silence the dark powers challenging David. David’s enemies and anyone that would strike back at him in revenge, stood before a holy God who would silence them. The God of all creation constantly cares for His people.
This Psalm has always reminded me of an amazing Sandi Patty song, “How Majestic Is Your Name.” Spending time with grandchildren is always praiseworthy. Walking this morning and breathing in the majestic scenery that is the desert, I can praise God for His creation. Whether I am driving in the car or the passenger gazing out the window, the desert beauty I can behold His creation. There are never any enemies I need to fear. I am reminded God’s name is Majestic in all the earth and He consistently cares for me daily.
What ways does God care for you?
Well cared for by the God of creation,
