Psalm 116:1-2, 5 NIV 2011
I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.
The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.
God’s people love the Lord because He hears and saves His people. Psalm 18:1, “I love you, Lord, my strength.” From past experiences, the psalter trusted the Lord because he knew God heard his prayers. Psalm 6:9, “The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayers.” Not using eloquent words but words from the heart, he knew God heard him. Psalm 5:1, “Listen to my words, Lord, consider my lament.” The psalter knew God. Psalm 86:15, “But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” God is righteous and compassionate.
The Lord knows what I need daily. When I get into a tough spot, He is right there with me. I recall walking down the streets of Manhattan at night. My friend and I had just finished a show and were walking back to our hotel. In a celebratory mood, we wanted to purchase a bottle of bubbly. Turning the corner toward a dark street, we both stopped at the same time and turned toward our hotel. God graciously saved us both from any unknown danger.
How does God reveal His love and faithfulness?
Our cries are heard,
