Matthew 8:24-26a NIV 2011
Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown.”
He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”
The disciples followed Jesus into a boat to reach the other side. Mark 4:35, “That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, ‘Let us go over to the other side.’” Leaving Galilee they were sailing to another area. Mark 5:1, “They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes.” Though Jesus was asleep, He knew the seas were prone to storms. Jesus had just spoken about worry and faith found in Matthew 6:25-34. Jesus acted immediately by calming the seas. The disciples fear drove them directly to Jesus. Faith in Christ calms the stormy seas of life.
Sitting alone in our new home tonight, I just received a text from my husband that he arrived safely in Columbus. The doors are locked and as I type, being alone is not my stormy sea. I’ve been putting things away that arrived in our POD Tuesday. I remember the first night I was alone in our home in Kent. No curtains on any of the windows, living on wooded land that was not a stormy sea. My faith in Christ calms all stormy seas leaving me fearless.
How does faith bring power to our lives?
