Isaiah 40:11, Philippians 4:6-7 NIV 2011

He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Isaiah’s words of comfort are offered to the kingdom of Judah. The Lord is the Shepherd that tends, gathers and leads His flock. Ezekiel 34:11, “For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them.” John 10:11, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” Paul calls believers to make their requests known to God because He hears the prayers of His people. Omniscient God knows and hears His sheep.

The daily began with these two Scriptures sent over four years ago. Sending Scripture and encouraging words to a friend was His way of calling me. I was used to tend some of His flock with His Words. He gave me more words to remind her, while hearing our prayers He guards our hearts and minds. The Lord comforts and guides me daily. I merely need to be open to His guidance and obey. God knows and hears me.

Why does God hear and know us?

Open to Him,
