Matthew 5:14-16 NIV 2011
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew placed Jesus’ Words within the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus told the crowd they were His Light to the world. John 8:12, “When Jesus spoke again to the people he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” He challenged them to shine His Light. Philippians 2:15b, “Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.” Jesus calls Christians to shine His Light.
Jesus said in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” As a follower of Jesus Christ, His Light is within me. I can smile and share His Light. My glass has always been half full. My faith grounded in Him, I see the world through the prism of His Light daily. Different than those who do not know Him, I shine His Light whenever I have the opportunity.
What are some ways Christians shine His Light?
