Leviticus 23:3 NIV 2011
“There are six days when you may work, but the seventh days is a day of sabbath rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the Lord.”
God spoke to Moses about the Sabbath being holy when He gave him the Ten Commandments. Exodus 20:9-10, “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God.” God reminded Moses of the sabbath and went on to appoint other festivals times. God provided times of celebration and rest for His people for them to remember He rested. Hebrews 4:10, “for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.” Salvation is found by resting in the finished word of Jesus Christ.
God knows everything. He knows we need physical rest. He also knew we needed to rest in Him daily. I have His Word that brings me comfort and allows me to sleep well each night. Spending Sunday with fellow believers, we rest in Him together. Right now we gather via our computers, radio, phone or TV to celebrate the Lord as we worship. My heart’s desire is to gather on May 31, Pentecost, to celebrate we are one in Christ. We’ve all found rest in Jesus Christ through our salvation.
How do we daily celebrate our rest is in Him?
