Joshua 1:16-17 NIV 2011
Then they answered Joshua, “Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go. Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses.”
Moses passed the mantle of leadership to Joshua at God’s direction. After guiding the Israelites for forty years, it was time to take possession of the Promised Land. Joshua 1:2, “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give them—the Israelites.” God’s guidance in the desert led them to this day. He chose to save them over and over again. God charged Joshua to be courageous, obedient, know and obey the Law. God’s presence was evident at the Jordan River. God is salvation for those who chose Him.
Micah 7:7, “But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.” God is called the Savior throughout the Old Testament. We live on the other side of the cross and the blood of Christ was the final sin sacrifice. I was saved when I chose to follow God’s Son. I am saved in the eyes of God the Father. God remains salvation for those who choose to follow the Son.
How does salvation daily define us?
