James 3:13-14 NIV 2011

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.

James addressed wisdom in James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” God gives wisdom to those who ask Him. 1 Kings 3:10, “The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this.” He cautioned God’s faithful to examine their hearts. There might possibly be ungodly motives behind their requests. James 3:16, “For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.” Wise men and women still seek Him.

I was given a prayer request early this morning. In seeking God, I needed to be sure my purpose was pure and godly. I first had to release the anger initially felt and after that was able to focus on praying for the individual and the situation. The Lord wants me to spend time daily in His Word and in prayer. A friend said she now lays her day before the Lord to help her navigate the day. I’m using that as my model; laying it all out as I seek Him.

What wisdom will we seek from Him today?
