Isaiah 41:8-10a NIV 2011
“But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you…”
These are God’s Words recorded by His prophet Isaiah. The use of the word servant in this chapter as well as others refers to either an individual or the nation of Israel. God here specifically refers to those He’s commissioned to serve Him: Moses in Numbers 12:7, David in 2 Samuel 3:18 and his servants the prophets in 2 Kings 17:13 and Jeremiah 7:25. Israel needed to be ever mindful; God was consistent to His promise to remain with them. God chose both Abraham and Jacob and remained with them. God is with those who follow and serve Him.
Looking back at all the times God has called me to serve, I often wondered, “why me?” But each time I said, “yes” I saw He was there guiding me each step of the way. My first mission trip I served along side our youth in Mexicali. We were part of a thousand others sharing the Good News with those that did not know Him using Spanish. Though many years had passed since speaking Spanish, God was right there beside me.
Why is God with those serving?
Serving Him daily,
